What we collect and why
We only collect what we need to run OfferWall. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
| Who | What we collect | Why we use it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Partners (businesses with an OfferWall account) | Your name, work email address, company name and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form). Your branding and offer settings. | To create and run your account, approve new accounts, show your chosen offers, and calculate and pay commission. | Contract, or taking steps to enter into one. Legitimate interests where you act for a business. |
| People who request a demo or contact us | Your name, email address, company name, and anything else you choose to give us, such as your phone number, website and message. | To reply to you and arrange a demo. | Legitimate interests in responding to enquiries about our service. |
| People who see or click OfferWall offers | A random visitor ID kept in your browser, and records of offer wall loads and offer clicks. See below. | To credit the right partner with commission, report performance, and detect fraud. | Legitimate interests in running and paying for the service. Consent for browser storage where the law requires it. |
| Anyone logging in | Your IP address, used briefly to count failed login attempts. | To protect accounts by blocking repeated failed logins for 15 minutes. | Legitimate interests in keeping the service secure. |
| Visitors to our websites | Technical information that web servers record as standard, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. | To deliver the website, keep it secure and fix problems. | Legitimate interests in running a secure website. |
We use a login session cookie and small items of browser storage. Our cookie policy lists them.
If you see OfferWall offers on another website
Our partners show OfferWall offers on their own websites, apps and customer areas, and on hosted pages at addresses ending in offerwall.app. When you see or click those offers:
- we store a random visitor ID in your browser's local storage, so we can count unique visitors rather than repeat page loads;
- we record that the offers were loaded (which partner, which type of page, when, and your visitor ID);
- if you click an offer, we record the click (which partner, which offer, when, your visitor ID, and a random click ID) and add the click ID and the partner's reference to the link, so the advertiser or affiliate network can tell us whether the offer was taken up.
We do not collect your name, email address or contact details through the offer wall, and we do not store your IP address in these records. After you click an offer, the advertiser's website and privacy policy apply to anything you do there.
The partner whose website you are on is responsible for its own website, and for telling you about OfferWall in its own privacy and cookie notices.
Who we share data with
- Advertisers and affiliate networks. When you click an offer, they receive the click ID and the partner's reference so the sale or sign-up can be attributed. They report back whether the offer was taken up.
- Service providers who host and support OfferWall for us, under contracts that require them to protect the data and use it only on our instructions.
- Content delivery networks. Parts of the offer wall load code from jsDelivr, and some partner pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address to deliver the files.
- Companies in our group, including for data protection and compliance support.
- Regulators, law enforcement and professional advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
- A buyer or successor, if our business or assets are sold or restructured.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including the content delivery networks above, may process data outside the UK. When personal data leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected, for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations or using the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep data
- Partner account information: for as long as your account is open, then for six years after your account closes for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
- Offer click records: six years, because they support commission payments and our financial records.
- Offer wall load records: two years.
- Demo requests and enquiries: for as long as we are in contact with you, and no longer than two years after our last contact unless you become a partner.
- Failed-login counts: 15 minutes.
- The visitor ID in your browser stays until you clear your browser's site data.
Security
We protect personal data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access limited to authorised staff, and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our measures regularly.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to delete your data;
- ask us to restrict how we use your data;
- object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
- ask for data you gave us to be transferred to you or another organisation;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email dataprotection@cignpost.com. We will respond within one month. If your request is about offer wall records, it helps to include the visitor ID from your browser, because we cannot otherwise link those records to you. You can remove the visitor ID yourself at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact our DPO first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in a new tab) or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes that affect partners, we will tell them by email or in the dashboard.
